You Might Not Get Dethklok, But Dethklok Will Get You

Dethklok can be more than a little hard to explain. "Isn't that a show on Adult Swim?" "Well, yeah, ‘Metalocalypse' but it's also a real band." It's all downhill from there. The band and cartoon were created by Brendon Small, who also creates and performs the music live. Despite their cartoon origins, Dethklok has proved themselves to be a musical force to be reckoned with. This brings us to Dethalbum III.

Brendon Small, along with Gene Hoglan, have managed to take GWAR, give them a little more talent and little less gore, and turn it into a quality metal band. This particular outing checks out at a tad over 50 minutes and has its share of hits and misses.

The musical talent is never far off, just take your pick of any track on the album and listen to the guitar and drums for a few seconds. Blast beats and fire filled riffs make up every track. Serious or not, these are talented musicians. Songs like "I Ejaculate Fire" might make some cringe while "Galaxy" will have them rocking along. You can't win them all and, quite frankly, Dethklok doesn't seem to care.

The album marks another consistent release from the fake/real band and proves that they are here to stay. If you weren't previously into metal check out the show and you might find yourself converted. Any metal fan, old or new, can find something to appreciate in "Dethalbum III."
